I actually feel her on this one. She was in Canada for a reason and probably desired a comfortable and peaceful life in which to raise a family.

If my boy wasn't here I would not have returned to Canada after twenty six year sworking abroad. And Canada was not nearly fucked up then as it is now.

My kid brother is an overseas toolpush workin on offshore drilling platforms. He and his Italian-Agentine old lady have lived in Portugal for about twenty years.

He was in Canada last summer traveling from Montreal to Vancouver. He had not been here in years. He could not believe the crime, the poverty, the homelessness and the litter everywhere.

This country has really deteriorated and it keeps getting worse. It is why I support independence from the sinking Canadian nation.

The Canada we immigrated to from China in the 90's no longer exists. Canada of the 90's had all of the opportunities that the US had but without the social problems like high violent crime rates, mass poverty and rampant drug abuse. Now we have all of the problems the US has and even worse without any of the economic opportunities to get ahead.

Twelve years ago if someone asked if I would leave Canada some day I would have laughed at them. I thought I lived in the best country in the world. That just goes to illustrate how much Canada has fallen and how fast too.

I have 2 boys. I owe it to them to have them raised in a truly first world country with the only restraint placed on them is their own ambition. I owe it to them to have them raised in a country that doesn't restrict what they can post on social media. I owe it to them to live in a country where the mass transit system is not a travelling homeless shelter.

As for Joe, he is a harmless old troll. Hence the trophy thread. If he was young and had the resources he would prolly bail on Canada too like 110,000 Canadians did last year.

I don't deny that people will have to move more in the future for jobs or careers. That's quite possibly the new reality for your daughters & future generations of Canadians, Americans & other Westerners.

But I don't think people have to leave forever or uproot themselves anymore.

Why not just live in 2 places at once? Spend 6 mos in the US, 6 somewhere else.

Yes the world is changing but doesn't mean people cant change with it but same time not tearing everything asunder. Get the best of both worlds. That's how I'd approach it.

Old Herman really likes South East Asia. They have a liad back way of life that is in stark contrast to the rich North East Asian countries Korea Japan and Taiwan.

I aint spent a lot of time in the Philippines, but we had a poster here CC who lived there for about five years. She said she loved it and missed it.
