Global Affairs Canada spent $59,000 to decorate a consulate in Milan, Italy.

The department dropped $33,680 on seven pieces of "artwork" – an average of $4,800 each.

One is a pair of "upcycled" pink cowboy boots with some beads, "floral work" and "wire trail duster fringe." The artist said it's meant to symbolize his "personal relationship to queer history."

Four pieces of art are textiles by an Indigenous artist, made mainly from rabbit fur, beads and sherpa. One of those pieces is a mitten on a pole. Yes – a mitten on a pole.
