Ah, the Gin Blossoms. "Hey Jealousy" really resonated with me back then.

Tell me do you think it'd be all right

If I could just crash here tonight

You can see I'm in no shape for driving

And anyway I've got no place to go

And you know it might not be that bad

You were the best I'd ever had

If I hadn't blown the whole thing years ago

I might not be alone...

Do you guys ever discuss the music you post in here, or is this more of a library filled with YouTube videos?  :tease:

I love the Gin Blossoms they bring back college memories. Unfortunately their second album " New Miserable Experience" is their best work. The follow-up albums kinda fell flat. Doug Hopkins who was fired from the band was the major portion of the song writing talent so they never really matched their early success.

Don't you hate it when that happens?

Did he ever do any solo stuff, or record with another band?

i think I preferred alternative music when it was college radio.

To my knowledge he never played with another band after he left TGB. Instead he committed suicide before the 3rd album, "Congratulations I'm Sorry", was released.

From what I've read he was a very unhappy and tortured individual. Alcohol and drugs were a problem for him. It kinda comes thru in his song writing. Although the Gin Blossoms are known for a poppy, up-beat kind of sound, there is a sad undertone in a lot of the songs, especially on NME. On the follow-up albums it sounds like they are trying to duplicate that sound but it doesn't quite work.

There's a sub forum for music related discussions.

There are no rules stating that you cannot discuss music in this thread. So long as the comments are kept civil, orderly and brief they are welcome. It would be preferable that extensive discussions regarding particular genres, specific artists and bands be posted to the Hardrock & Harmony subform.

I'm sorry if you don't like that I answered Shins questions here but unlike you, I have no intention of being a pompous self-important ass by telling him that his perfectly reasonable questions are out of place.

Once again you are over stepping your bounds and knowledge of how things are run around here. Let's get something straight, you don't get to tell people were they can and cannot post. That's up to the Administration team.

Are we clear?
