QuoteA large sinkhole has opened up in Burnaby near the 4800 block of Albert Street on Monday evening.

Metro Vancouver crews estimate the sinkhole is 16 feet long, six feet wide and three to four feet deep.

An investigation is underway into what caused the road to collapse, says Metro Vancouver spokesman Don Bradley.

"There has been a considerable amount of infrastructure, work performed in the area over the past several years but the investigation will determine the cause and appropriate next steps," he said.

Albert Street is closed for one block between Gamma and Delta Avenues. A security crew will watch over the sinkhole overnight and cleanup crews will be back Tuesday morning.

Asal, I do believe you're up to your old tricks.

asal

Teasing people?

Yes.  But, it's also an interesting story.

The thing about living here is that I don't think to look at news sites from other places.  I look at cbc first.  But, I could consciously make it more international...  it's fun to bug you though.

If your life is so bereft of interest that you think a sinkhole is interesting, I suggest you find a hobby.

It may distract you from making a fuckhead of yourself.

RW

That's where I used to live asal.  Crazy!

I do think sinkholes are interesting.  If you took the time to learn a little bit about Canada you'd realize we don't get them very often.  I never heard of one happening in Burnaby.

I know!!!  That's why I directed it at you :)  I'm in that area.  I don't live there now, but I used to live in that neighbourhood near Madison/Hastings.  I liked living there.

RW

I was down further but I love the Heights.  Ever go to Cioffi's?
