A British art-rock band from the late sixties, that had a cult following. They recorded 4 albums, "The House On The Hill" being their most popular.

Pavlov's Dog.

A prog rock ensemble with David Surkamp making Geddy Lee sound like a baritone...2 albums, but only a cult band.

Atomic Rooster.

British R&B band that occasionally toyed with prog and psychedelia...had some hits and a big following in the UK, but nowhere else.

Open Road.

Donovan was a world renowned folkie with a string of hits. He formed an electric band called "Open Road" that did one album.

Note that this album cover says "Donovan". The original cover said "Open Road" and they couldn't give it away, so the label changed the cover title.

Love. (Later called Arthur Lee and Love).

American psychedelic band years ahead of their time, with one huge international hit, "7 + 7". Arthur Lee's songs were complex and clever, when pop songs were about teen boys hitting on teen girls.

Fleetwood Mac.

Yes, I hear you say "But everyone knows them...they're a huge band". Well, not initially. They were a blues band led by Peter Green. Cult following.

When Green left, their bassist and keyboard player, John and Christine McVie kept the name, hooked up with Stevie and Lindsay and became an Abba-like pop band.

The Yardbirds.

They were, at one point, regarded as the equal of, if not more influential than the Rolling Stones. Until their singer, Keith Relf died suddenly, and the music almost died with him. However, given that their guitarists featured at various times Jeff Beck (in this clip), Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page (when Relf died), Page decided to keep the group going as The New Yardbirds, bringing in John Bonham, John Paul Jones and Robert Plant. They decided that The New Yardbirds was a daft name and changed it to "Led Zeppelin". Much better.  :001_rolleyes:

The Leaves.

An American early 60's band, also with a cult following. Best known for a song that was covered by one James Marshall Hendrix, to the extent that the world thought it was HIS song. It wasn't. The Leaves eventually became The Turtles and started groovin...

MC5.

An American hard rock band before hard rock was invented, punks before punks discovered fast, hard power chords, the MC5 pioneered crazy music.

Jo came to our house for dinner one night.

Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers. Just about every single person has heard this band perform, as the soundtrack for King of the Hill. A band that's been around for 20 years and still manages to draw major crowds without ever having a billboard hit.
