I bought an Acer chromebook on the weekend. Can I download Skype onto it? I was told I could. I have Skype on our desk top, but not on our tablets or this chromebook.

You can run Skype on your new notebook.  There are actually work arounds on chromebook but it's a pain in the ass (Microsoft and Google don't get along).  You should have no trouble running it on your Acer that runs windows.  It might even come pre-installed.
