"Wow! You performed at an absolute genius level on this test -- that is the highest possible score that anyone can achieve. You're in the top 1% ranking! This test included questions which had some of the most misspelled words and phrases in the English language. A lot of people fail this quiz because they confuse elicit/illicit, alluded/eluded, and some even misuse to/too/two, but you know your grammar and spelling exceptionally well!"

Bollocks!!

In any case, I didn't have to study for years in a University to earn MY score.

Christ, that was easy. What a disappointment.

You guys are native English speakers ffs. Doing well on a silly test is nothing to crow about.

RW

English is kind of ridiculous.

#2 is wrong btw. As far as I know if two items are different from a third item it's perfectly correct to say that item A is more different than item B.

Also #5 is stupid because it doesn't show the complete sentence (and I have no idea what all those fancy terms mean.) =P

#2 is a very nit picky rule.

I've never paid much attention to all the technical grammar terms. I just go with what sounds and feels right.  Seems to work fairly well for me.

For the record, "different than" has been used for hundreds of years without too much fuss.  I highly doubt you'd ever get called out for writing it.

I have a grammar rule that goes something like this: When in doubt, word it differently. =)))
