Feel better!

I cannot start taking the medication until tomorrow morning. And the doc said it would take 3-4 days before it started making a difference. For now I am wolfing down these Life brand extra strength calcium antacids. They help a little.

You did the right thing Herm. Walk ins are not too bad. If it's something serious they can refer you to a specialist. In your case it was just a matter of printing off a note.

Quote from: "Herman"I think I might have a stomach ulcer(duodenal ulcer). We Googled it and I have the symptoms. It's the barrel wash catching up with me, I know that. I made an appointment to see our doctor.

Does anyone here know anyone that had a stomach ulcer? How was it treated?

Here...try this....

Hey!

I was jes' tryin' ta help Herman.

Yeah, I had ulcers once.

I took lots of aloe vera in liquid form & the symptoms gradually went away.

Did Herman say he went to Costa Rica?

Maybe he caught something down there, bacteria in his stomach.

I went to Mexico, Southern California, ate a lot of bad food and then I had stomach problems after that.

Plenty of rest, a balanced diet of vegetables, low on acids might help.

Nice of you to forward that info Joe I'm sure he will appreciate it.

Maybe Herman needs a round of antibiotics as well.

I know I did since I was ill for most of the winter.

Needed 3 rounds of bottles to clear up whatever was ailing me.

Make an appointment with your doctor. How long have you had the symptoms?

That is helpful. If I ever have that problem, I can try this first. If it doesn't work i will make an appointment to see my doctor.

I was in Costa Rica four months ago Joe. I have lived and worked all over the world in some awful conditions too. I do not think a luxury resort is why I have a duodenal ulcer. As I said in the op, it's my age catching up with my drinking.

At this time of the year there is so much work so that extra rest is not possible. But, no more stopping for a beer break once an hour. The old lady stocked the fridge in the Quonset with bottles of home made green tea. It's a change drinking one of them every hour, but I can pretend it's Bud. And no more shots of cheap whiskey or barrel wash before bed. I lie down and the acid travels up my esophagus to my chest.

It sure was. I appreciate everyone's help here. I am glad I posted this.

So you have acid reflux as well. That's not good either. I had it with each of my pregnancies. It's uncomfortable as hell. Hopefully the doctor is addressing that as well because untreated, that can lead to damage to the esophagus wall and sometimes esophageal cancer.

My advice is you might want to take a daily acid reducer like Prilosec. It will stop the reflux and help with the ulcer.

I have had acid reflux on and off for twenty five years. Usually once a year I get it for a few days. It seems to be gone now that I have doubled my antacids. I am taking mylan pantoprazole T.

Hey Joe, they do not carry that stuff in a pharmacy. I guess you have to buy it in a health food store or online.

If my cousin had taken Prilosec he would be alive today. He was 45 years old and a non smoker. Three months only between being diagnosed with esophageal cancer and taking his final breath. Acid reflux is serious business.

I have wicked acid reflux but it's due to the anti in flammatories I'm on.  I didn't know aloe vera was a good acid reducer   ac_dunno
