JOE

This article from the Globe and Mail suggests that this is a possibility:

...article cites how the two cities are too reliant/dependent upon one industry. Detroit it was cars, Calgary of course, is oil.

...what do folks think? Is Calgary on its way to becoming the next Detroit, or is this reasoning flawed?

Discuss.

The UAW killed Detroit that and 40 years of fiscally irresponsible democratic leadership.

Oh, I have heard how inept the city government has been. I do not blame anyone for bailing on the city. None of this applies to Calgary of course. There is no chance of Calgary declaring bankruptcy.

Comparing Detroit's systemic problems of corruption to Calgary is nuts. Then again, if the NDP was in power as long as the corrupt Democratic party machine has controlled Detroit, it could be.

I have been to Detroit and Calgary. Apples and oranges.

I went down to Windsor in May. I went over to Detroit for a few hours. We enjoyed ourselves.

True. The plot is dumb dumb

As for Deeetroyt! I was in late teens in Windsor and went there a cpl of times a week. It was a vibrant society then

So sad what has happened. Jobs went away, Whites who could leave left.  Blacks who could leave did also. What then moved in has finished it off.
