Alvin Lee of Ten Years After was one of my favorite guitarists. Sadly, he passed in 2013 from a routine surgical procedure that went wrong. Anyway, the curious thing to me about TYA is that they had only one top 40 song, namely, this one.  And it is a dandy:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

Another great classic rock tune I've gotta stick in here.  Savoy Brown was headed by Kim Simmonds from its formation in 1965 until his death from colon cancer in December 2023:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

I was surprised to read that this song climbed to only #51 on the charts. Nevertheless, it's held up very well over time. As you probably know, James Gang front man Joe Walsh went on to join The Eagles after going solo for a while:

Amen.
Deo vindice

J E B Stuart

I first heard this song played by a local band in a club I worked at back in the 70's. I loved it, but didn't discover until much later that it was a Fleetwood Mac song from their 1970 album Kiln House.  It was written by former band member Danny Kirwan.  He joined the band at the age of 18 in 1968 and was fired after a breakdown in 1972. His talent, however, was undeniable:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Actually I don't, but I know folks who do.

Tom Petty was a hit machine. That said, this early single by Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers didn't even make the charts initially, but it is one of my favorites:

Amen.
Deo vindice

I've seen John Kay & Steppenwolf in concert twice. I've three of their albums, including For Ladies Only. The song by the same name was far from their biggest, however, I think it's one of their best:

Amen.
Deo vindice
