Now I have heard so many times that Chinese built the railroad and were mistreated workers. Well if the truth be known then the fact is that they were paid better and treated better on the CP Railroad than they were by emplopyers in China. Slavery was commonplace and mistreatment of workers has always also been in China yet not one word about this. Many came for the railroad but once they arrived they absconded to the gold fields on the Fraser and other areas as this had been their original plan. Now if Chinese are so concerned about mistreatment then why is Chinese treament of Tibetans okay with them ? I read the entire Rough Guide To China [ 1996 edition, over 1,200 pages  ] and in at least two provinces the provincial governor ordered every foreigner killed including women and children and they were. Did evil white people do this to Chinese ? Why no outcry about this ? Chinese males will always find a reason to justify wheir misdeeds and hatreds but the real source of their hate is they don't like their backstabbing sneaky decietful selves

Chinese did help build the railroad and many were mistreated.

How they would have been treated back in China is irrelevant. Mistreating those Chinese railroad workers was wrong.

A little reminder for Gary Oak about something he posted in Our Forum:

QuotePositive people are:

Committed to developing compassion towards themselves and others, and having an open heart

Positive people aren't:

Constantly mired in fear or tolerant of letting their hearts harden

2. Extend love outward.

Love creates an irresistible charisma, a warm glow that makes us and others happy. You can send it in any situation, a nurturing that won't drain us. How? Focus on your heart, and envision something you love. A flock of seagulls. Your son's smile. A blooming rose. Then, during a conversation, inwardly ask, "Let love flow through me." Feel it rise from your chest; notice a sense of heat, serenity, a radiance. These energies move outward. People soften around it, feel safe, and want more. So, when standing by your boss start pumping away. Loving energy smoothes the rough edges of any circumstance, facilitates rapport. Try it even if you don't like someone, but seek to get along better.

4. Commit to Emotional Housecleaning

Consistently chipping away at the negative makes room for more positivity in yourself. Self-awareness is our greatest ally against fear. Psychotherapy, introspection, meditation, journaling, and/or talking with friends all further healing. As negativity remits, you become more alluring.

Remember when doing this work not to hold idealized expectations, everyone–including yourself!–has irritating/challenging/disappointing aspects. We all have foibles. Even so, you can legitimately hope to personify and attract others fighting their way out of the muck with an open heart and sense of humor. These are my heroes and friends.

Many of the Chinese never got to go home. They never saw their families again. Like depicted in some Chinese movies, many were tricked to come here to build the railway. Some even thought that they were coming here for gold. Families in China thought that maybe their sons didn't come back is because they got wealthy and are living the good life. It is so sad.

They were tricked to come over ? They didn't want to stay ? Why don't you go back to China ? They had a better life in Canada in spite of everything that they whine about white people being so horrible to them. I don't hear any of them saying anything critical of Chinas treatment of Tibetans. A former triad member by the way told me that all Chinese know what FAN QING FU MING means and that all Chinese know that China is trying to take over Canada.

QuoteCanada needed a railway that would stretch from one side of the country to the other. Andrew Onderdonk, a New York engineer, was given the contract to build the portion of the railway from Port Moody to Eagle Pass, near Revelstoke, British Columbia. The land in this area was mountainous, making the work difficult and dangerous. Workers were in short supply. Between 1881 and 1884, as many as 17 000 Chinese men came to B.C. to work as labourers on the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Chinese workers worked for $1.00 a day, and from this $1.00 the workers had to still pay for their food and their camping and cooking gear. White workers did not have to pay for these things even though they were paid more money ($1.50-$2.50 per day). As well as being paid less, Chinese workers were given the most back-breaking and dangerous work to do. They cleared and graded the railway's roadbed. They blasted tunnels through the rock. There were accidents, fires and disasters. Landslides and dynamite blasts killed many. There was no proper medical care and many Chinese workers depended on herbal cures to help them.

The Chinese railway workers lived in camps, sleeping in tents or boxcars. They did their own cooking over open outdoor fires. They mainly ate a diet of rice and dried salmon, washed down with tea. With their low salaries they could not afford fresh fruit and vegetables, so many of the men suffered from scurvy (a painful disease caused by a diet without vitamin C).

The camps were crowded. Diet and living conditions were poor. Many got sick. In the winter it was very cold and the open fires were the only way of keeping warm. Whenever the workers put down more tracks, the camps had to be moved further down the line. When it was time to move camp, the Chinese workers would take down their tents, pack their belongings and move everything to the next camp, often hiking over 40 kilometres.

When the Canadian Pacific Railway was completed in 1885, the railway workers needed to find new jobs. Several thousand Chinese workers returned to China after the railway was completed. Many more could not afford the cost of the ticket. Many stayed in British Columbia, especially in Victoria and Vancouver. Some settled in the small towns along the railway line. Some Chinese people became gardeners, grocers, cooks or servants in wealthy White households.

Many Canadians discriminated against the Chinese. The Chinese looked different, spoke a different language, and brought their own ways of life with them from China. Many Canadians had never met a Chinese person and formed false opinions out of fear. If each group had known the other better perhaps there wouldn't have been as much prejudice.

That's right Pansy, unionization and workers rights in Canada are maybe the best in the world. Consequently we have a massive middle class society, with justice and protection for ALL workers. It's idiotic mouthpieces like you that undermine the rights of Canadian workers.

You are without question the biggest dunce on this forum. Your idiotic repetitive rants are an insult to the intelligence of a gnat. Nobody can bear to read your retarded drivel and grade four insults. The Special Ed Dept. was my suggestion and with you in mind.

EU, your conduct here has been no better than anyone else's..

You seem to be so angry all the time..

Perhaps you need a time-out as others have suggested to me.
