Now while I'm personally for freedom of speech, I suppose there are some lines that cannot be crossed here in Canada.



A few interesting points...  Usually Whitey is the one that gets muzzled.  HOWEVER, this time a Muslim here in BC has been arrested and charged for showing his support on FaceBook for attacks that have happened in the West.



And maybe rightfully so...   Choosing to come to mainly White Western countries, and then supporting terrorist acts that happen there, even if just online, certainly can raise red flags.  And in this case it did.



Extraleggs over at the other place should be careful...  I'm sure they're keeping an eye on him also!

Othman Hamdan of Fort St. John has pleaded not guilty to encouraging the commission of murder, assault and mischief, all for terrorist purposes, as well as inducing and instructing someone to carry out a terrorist act.

I would not want to see anyone be excluded from a job because of some petty offense that happened in their youth. So, I support a publication ban for minor offenses too.

Inciting violence in the name of Islam should be a special category in the criminal code. Minimum 10 years in the slammer with pork served three times a fucking day.

I suppose in one way I agree...  However, I think our courts have accepted an "open and transparent" formula that makes for public record any criminal charge that an adult has been deemed guilty of in the courts of law.  This I suppose I can accept, since it seems how Western judicial systems work.



I'll tell you one thing that I have more of a problem with...  If a person is charged with a crime, and later found not-guilty, that has no bearing on publication, and it will still follow that person through any public search...



THAT'S a problem...  If the court of law has found an individual not guilty of a crime, why should the initial charge still publicly follow their name, which it does?

And I'll tell you how poorly this system works...



I was charged and found guilty of Mischief like 15 years ago.  I applied for a pardon when the time frame to be able to do so had passed, and it was granted.



Now, a pardon is supposed to seal a criminal records history, if it is granted...



When BC first started their online court registry services, well after my pardon had been granted, low and behold there was my charge, available for all the public to see.



The ONLY one that can "grant" a pardoned record to be viewed, at least in theory, is the Attorney General of Canada.



And yet, here is my shit, online, for all to see...



I was FUCKING furious!  I called up the courts, and the snarky public sector cunt made me fax her my Pardon Papers...  Only THREE FUCKING MONTHS later did that shit disappear.
