I really don't know, Fash. Others here have said that sometimes it's for life.

It was life for my dad, he never made it off it. Was on it at home, every 4 hours. Then switched to at the clinic 3 days a week. Those were dialysis days, cause it took a chunk of the day, and then he had nothing left energy wise for the rest of the day. But his off days he felt amazing.

I hated it for him, even debated giving him a kidney lol.

He passed away almost 2 years ago. Dont feel that long.

Since I posted this in September of 2017, the person I know who had this no longer had a need for it after that.

Some kinds of acute kidney failure get better after treatment. In some cases of acute kidney failure, dialysis may only be needed for a short time until the kidneys get better.

I was sad of course when folks passed, but I think I was more sad for my little brother when mom passed, more sad for my son when his mom passed, if you know what Im sayin'.

Damn, hate to hear that. Was in 2000 for my mom. Schitz runs in my family, I dont think she was diagnosed but my grandmother was a while back. Her pistol was used, but there were clues that possibly her crazy ex had something to do with it. Matter of fact, her quote was "if something happens to me, he had something to do with it".

I was raised by my grandma, Fash. It was tragic for my children. I'm still angry at her for making them lose out on the grandma experience. My kids were younger but it still affected them deeply.

Jesus H, I am sorry about that. A young lad my boy went to high school with hung himself in April. It came as total shock to everyone who knew him.

I have never known anyone who actually attempted suicide. I heard of soldiers in the IDF who threatened suicide. Most of those only did that to get out of military service.
