It's the same thing in my province since Rachel Notley became premier..

What was the dominant industry in your area before Obama?

Very poor private sector prospects here..

There are lots of full time jobs, but they are not offering close to the pay and benefits of the jobs that have been lost.

I live in a Railroad town. I believe it was the coal regulations.

Also, around that time, oil prices went up, sending the prices of everything up, and the market crashed during the housing crisis. They say it was bad loans, but I know what it was, oil prices sending up other prices. My wage hasnt changed in those 8 years, wages are stagnant all around this area since then. No hiring either. The local paper (which either has or is moving out of town), use to put out a Jobs Weekly paper. Use to be 16 pages or so. It dwindled to 2 pages before they quit printing them altogether.

Big companies are packing up and moving out. Some going to Northern Virginia, which I hear is better off.

One of the first and main ones, the Norfolk Southern Railway corporate office closed up and 500 jobs transferred out. Several others, including the main distribution post office. Now, if someone mails something here, and is suppose to go here, it still takes 6 days cause it has to be sent to Greensboro for distribution. We still have local postal offices.

Lost thousands upon thousands of jobs here.

I heard Southern Virginia was desirable place to live and play, though it seems not to work.

Carilion has a strong foothold here. I dont wanna work for a hospital though, thats the first place zombies go!

It's like that in Winnipeg too. Low wage service jobs are hiring, but not good industrial jobs. Let's bring in more refugees and immigrants and create even more competition for fewer jobs. It's the least we can do for rich progtard capitalists.

Cops and other snivel serpents. Not much for wealth creating private sector jobs.

Welcome to the New Debt Party's Alberta and True Dope's Canada.

Alberta created the most full time jobs of any province in Canada last month, but the unemployment rate stayed the same at 7,8%..

So, either an equal number of jobs were lost or more people entered the workforce offsetting any employment gains.

The economy shrank in August and exports are dropping. Consumer and public debt is holding up the Canadian economy at the moment and neither is sustainable.

I live where you live, Super, and I beg to differ...

Understand the cost of living here now.  Vancouver has now surpassed Manhattan and San Francisco, becoming the most expensive place to live on this entire continent, when median wages are taken into account.

Basically, we have million dollar condos, and jobs that top out at a shit wage, thus now making us the most expensive city to live in.

There are NO decent wages here!  $20/hour?  Give me a break...  $30/hour?  MIGHT rent you a one bedroom...

I understand what you are saying, many ARE lower paying jobs, but I do see better paying jobs too. Transit jobs, government agency jobs, healthcare jobs, industrial jobs. Heck, even casinos pay better than minimum wage jobs.

Plus, we all start somewhere...

I don't see minimum wage jobs as long term career options, but we all need to start somewhere, gain some experiences, and aim for better jobs.

And, my point was that there are jobs out there for those who are looking.
