Seriously?

The police felt this infantile act was worthy of arresting the offender?

What a waste of resources.

Yep.

Bricktop

Being victimised is fashionable in the UK.

What a waste of resources.

That's crazy.

Bricktop

Although not completely familiar with UK laws, I simply don't see an offence there.

A nuisance, perhaps...and a rather selfish act, but that is no crime as far as I can see.

Aryan

Someone got locked up for saying nasty things about muslims on Facebook I read earlier today. Seriously, no joke........

Bricktop

A decent silk would see those charges dumped in a heartbeat.

Aryan

Dunno about that, the plod have really been upping the heat when it comes to so called 'hate' online...

Facebook and Twitter are the most watched places online, you'd have to be a moron to openly call for muslims or whoever else to be killed.

Bricktop

"Are you the proprietor of that Facebook account?"

"I decline to answer"

"Did you post those words?"

"I decline to answer"

Every element has to be proved beyond reasonable doubt.

You're knackered if you live alone and they check your search history.  I guess you could maybe get away with it if other people use your computer...

I don't believe there is any charge in Canadian Law like this charge here...  The closest thing I can think of would be 'threatening,' but this wouldn't meet the threshold here.

RELATED:  When my Mother joined the force here, part of recruitment was having someone cut you down verbally, in any and all ways that they could.  And I mean harshly.  They did this, because they wanted to see if you could actually handle this as an actual cop, where you would get cut down for anything and everything.

Years later, they discontinued this practice here, as it was, and I'm not joking, 'hurting the feelings' of the new recruits.  The higher-ups agreed, and that practice came to an end.

So, what we have now is an ever weakened police force, but an ever-more-aggressive criminal element.  And average people are stuck in the middle...
