I lust over the style of the 1911 Colt.  Here, they are hard to come by, for some strange reason, since they have always been 'permitted' in their original form.

The Model 70 blued is really what I would like to add to my collection, but when I finally found a Canadian vendor that had one, I see this...

I must give kudos to vendor for taking real pics.  What the fuck is up with finishing?  A brand new blued gun should have no 'bubbles or flaws'...

I see this, and I do not like what I see, on a pistol that costs well over a thousand dollars.  Colt, what the fuck?

Look at this shit, on a brand new gun...  Bubbling and pitting, and look just over the slide release?  What the fuck?

This is a BRAND NEW Colt!  Saddened...  Will not buy.

I wanted to pretend I was Dick Tracy, but I cannot do so with shit like this leaving an American factory.  Fuck...  Chinese quality for US prices.

Blahhhhhh...

Quote from: "Dinky Dianna"It's not new.

The site is selling it as a new gun.  It even has the warning tag attached to the trigger.

Now, either they are trying to sell a used gun as new, or Colt Mfg. has really gone to shit!

Actual Colt Model 70's are somewhat rare in gun stores around here for some reason, so it's not so easy getting my hands on the actual product before purchase...

If you have a problem with it...dont buy it   pretty simple

I'm just trying to figure out if Colt has completely gone to shit.  These are far from cheap guns.

Gone to shit as far as those pics show. Mine is almost 70 years old and no bubbles at all. Lots of rounds fired through this one so, wear marks, in need of disassembly cleaning around the grips but the blue is still fine.

Interesting little mod to a clip you can make is grinding or filing another notch just above the factory one. Lets the clip sit just below the slide and won't allow a round to chamber. Kind of a safety. If you have the slide locked back all you have to do is bump it and release the slide. Another safety factor my dad used since he kept it in the headboard of his bed.

I've learned that if someone asks you a really stupid question and you reply by telling them what time it is, they'll leave you alone

I would like to order one (here, we can order online and have shipped to door), but makes me nervous making a purchase sight unseen, having seen the pics.

There are quite a few 1911's in gunshops around here, but none seem to carry many Colt's.  Not sure why that is...

No doubt the older ones are simply higher quality than the mass produced guns they kick out the door these days, but that seems to be the trend with everything these days.

Maybe the gun stores around here stock other brands of 1911's, simply because Colt may not be the best value anymore.  They are not a cheap gun, and if fit & finishing has gone to shit, perhaps there are other more viable options...
