Van plows into people in Toronto near Young and Finch

Police have confirmed that nine people are dead and 16 injured after a van mounted a sidewalk in north Toronto, crashing into pedestrians. A man, said to be the driver of the van, is in custody after a brief standoff with police.

I grew up in North York. I know the Yonge/Finch area well. This floors me.

It's pretty sad and still can't believe this really happened in our city... I remember passing by Youge and Finch every week or 2 to buy take out from the local restaurants there, lots of awesome Korean and Japanese food.  Just hope the family members of the victims can make it through these hard times.  ac_unsure
