And then when I did have fairly good lighting pre-sunset, I decided to adjust the camera and stupid me upped the contrast X 2  INSTEAD of sharpness, and my subjects was too far away and all I got were shitty shots like this.

See if you can improve this Bricktop. I doubt it but you never know.. The second one, not the first.

I've run it through some software, but I think you've already done some editing on it. Can I get the original file??

They're shit... don't waste your time unless you want to experiment...

I just experimented myself. I wasted my time.

I've never seen one of these.

I just about did a double back flip when I saw my first Gannet.

It's amazing that all my life I just knew roughly 30 species and didn't take much notice of the HUGE diversity we have in the Aviary Continent. And our birds are becoming a world-wide phenomena.

It's why the 15% of wild areas left need saving. I have Mosul Iraqi on my tree group. Their city was nearly obliterated by ISIS. It was once palatial. The Iraqi guy has planted street trees and wants his neighbours to do the same.  I said, show the young people the birds and trees an envision a better world.

The funny thing  is, he has put them behind wire to stop the cattle eating them.  I'm all for keeping people in their own countries making them better places. That's the solution to the refugee crisis.

I don't know his name its in Arabic... He did tell me but I forget.  These types of people give me joy. They're trying to make changes for the better!~

One only has to peruse this thread and see our contributions to see the incredible diversity of our bird life. Many Australians don't appreciate what we have...but you need to look at the birds rather than just walk on by. People pay no attention to them and miss seeing some of nature's wonders.

caskur

Exactly right.

And I'm going to delete some my crappy shots so I don't stink up the thread.

The Pacific gull looks like our seagulls except more beautiful.

Look at this one trying to fight off a Raven trying to get at the fish.... Click the picture and see the others.

Thanks, but I'm in so many already I can't keep up. Bird groups, birds of Australia, Olympus users and my own page.

Maybe three times the size of our seagulls.

Bricktop

"The Pacific gull (Larus pacificus) is a very large gull, native to the coasts of Australia. It is moderately common between Carnarvon in the west, and Sydney in the east, although it has become scarce in some parts of the south-east, as a result of competition from the kelp gull, which has "self-introduced" since the 1940s.

Much larger than the ubiquitous silver gull, and nowhere near as common, Pacific gulls are usually seen alone or in pairs, loafing around the shoreline, steadily patrolling high above the edge of the water, or (sometimes) zooming high on the breeze to drop a shellfish or sea urchin onto rocks. "

caskur

I've never seen Bricktops gull but now I'll look harder. You never know.

Today I had a great day. I got white faced heron, some fantastic Western Rosella pictures.. AND a beautiful fully covered blue Splendid Fairy-wren, wait until I fix up the pics and sign them.
