Tb fair catholic priest are still extremely rare and probably the most rare group in a demograph of class/professionals involving sex with minors, as long as there's 2 or 3 in this world that gets busted it'll make it to the headline news and cause a huge confusion whether can these priest be trusted or not.  But the most important thing is are the children ok, I duno can it be guarantee 100% but I don't think I've heard from a child that felt any where close to being scarred.  The news with the priest is kind of like about a cop that ends up killing someone b/c of their skin colour.

If the Catholic Church is to be truly repentant, it must first compensate all victims with a minimum $1M USD each. Bear in mind this will barely make a dent in its vast wealth.



It must then have its tax exempt status cancelled until further order...and that order will be contingent on the Church demonstrating it has put in place policies and procedures that ensure institutionalised abuse of children can never happen again. This includes such actions as eliminating the confidentiality of their idiotic "confessional".



All priests involved in the abuse should be defrocked, along with any Bishop that oversaw the diocese in which the abuse occurred, regardless of whether or not its proved that the Bishop was aware of the abuse. Any Cardinal in direct line with the management of the diocese should be demoted. Any priest accused of abuse shall be suspended, and if the accusation is proven, dismissed forthwith.



The Church must then reform from within. The moronic policy of celibacy must be withdrawn, as well as priests being male only. These policies alone attract predators.
