Washington — For a second straight year the U.s. will slash the number of refugees it will accept, secretary of state mike pompeo said, insisting amid criticism from human rights groups that the country is still committed to providing sanctuary to people fleeing the world's danger zones.



Up to 30,000 refugees will be allowed into the country next year, down from a cap of 45,000 this year. It will be the lowest ceiling on admissions since the program began in 1980. the announcement monday came despite calls from global humanitarian groups that this year's cap of 45,000 was too low.



the announcement drew harsh criticism from Democratic lawmakers.

Not many people in Canada would consider Ensaf Haider, the Canadian wife of a Saudi political prisoner, as one of the "stupidest people on Twitter." But that is exactly how supporters of Maxime Bernier's People's Party of Canada were described by Paul Wells of Maclean's while appearing on CBC TV'S show Power and Politics the other day.



Haider is among the thousands of Canadians showing their support for Bernier.



That evening, CBC invited its so-called Power Panel comprising supporters of all political parties, dressed up as 'observers', 'experts' or 'analysts' to disparage Bernier, laughing at him with an air of disdain accompanied by giggles and non-visual high fives.



One would hope common decency and balanced journalism would have required at least one participant in the panel who would rebut the insults being hurled not just at Bernier, but also his supporters.



Host Vassy Kapelos is one of Canada's finest current affairs hosts. She is a delight to watch as she goes head to head with the toughest and meanest, but on that evening, she let her guard down and the mockery continued.



The worst moment came when Wells denigrated Bernier's followers.



"Basically his voter base right now is the stupidest people on Twitter," he said with a haughty arrogant laugh as others giggled while host Kapelos revealed her seeming approval of the insult, with a "No comment."



The next morning, Ensaf Haider went public with her support of Bernier, tweeting, "Finally, a new party is born in Canadian political life, @Peoplespca. Remember that name well."



Maxime Bernier responded immediately, welcoming the world renowned human rights activist in the fold of his party. He tweeted: "Very happy to get the support of Ensaf Haidar, wife of Raif Badawi and a courageous defender of free speech in the world."



For a politician being attacked for his supposed anti-immigrant bias, an endorsement by Raif Badawi's wife as well as from a group called 'Muslims For Max,' left the so-called Power Panel gurus scratching their heads. Perhaps it's because it's likely, not one of them has ever run for office, campaigned for a candidate or toiled for a political party, yet they are the experts and we are the "stupidest people on Twitter."



I asked Ensaf Haider what made her join the PPC. She told me she was particularly attracted to the People's Party's commitment not to permit the weakening of Canada's secular liberal foundation built over 400 years and based on the Anglo-french nature of the country's heritage. She quoted the following section of the PPC'S declaration:



"Our immigration policy should not aim to forcibly change the cultural character and social fabric of Canada, as radical proponents of multiculturalism want. The vast majority of Canadians rightly expect immigrants to learn about our history and culture, master one of our official languages and adopt widely shared Canadian values such as equality of men and woman, tolerance for diversity and respect for Canadian law."



Haider told me, "I was born under Sharia and forced to wear the niqab and that stole my humanity. Now under the burka of diversity, Islamists are making Muslim Canadian women to be their flag bearers and mark territory, literally showing their middle finger to the rest of Canada."



"Immigrants escaping from the hell of Islamic countries should fuse with the culture and manners of Western societies, otherwise they are not qualified for living in Canada," she concluded.



Now who is 'stupid,'paul Wells? It is certainly not Ensaf Haider, who deserves an apology.

MIGRANT IN 'SANCTUARY' ALLEGEDLY KILLS 3





Luis rodrigo Perez got a free pass courtesy of a "sanctuary city" county in New Jersey.



Last week, Perez was charged with a triple homicide in missouri.



The illegal immigrant was sprung after being arrested on domestic violence charges in middlesex County, N.J., last year.



at the time, u.s. Immigration and Customs enforcement wanted to deport Perez back to his native mexico following his arrest.



unfortunately, middlesex has a non-cooperation policy with ICE and wouldn't let the feds know when Perez was being released in February.



"Had Ice's detainer request in december 2017 been honoured by middlesex County Jail, Luis rodrigo Perez would have been placed in deportation proceedings and likely sent home to his country — and three innocent people might be alive today," Corey Price, acting ICE executive associate director, told the Washington Times.



Perez — who has a long criminal history packed with violence — somehow made his way to springfield, missouri.



and when he was kicked out of the home he shared with two other men? He went on a shooting rampage in two different homes.



His victims were steven marler, 38, aaron Hampton, 23, and sabrina starr, 21, according to Nj.com.
