Or we are adults with adult stuff to look after.

You are grown man with no interest in your own economic well being let alone your nation's. That really floors me.

Scouse is a big government's dream voter. They can bring in punitive carbon taxes, buy votes by expanding the civil service, run huge deficits, take away tax breaks, add job killing regulations to placate the enviro left, raise the cost of electricity with useless green energy schemes and watch economic growth tank. Scouse won't notice any of it. He'll be focused on what's really important; a video of a  left wing Jew on youtube.

This is why universal suffrage is such a bad, bad, bad way of deciding who governs us.

Democracy was not designed for the age of social media. It needs reform.

Democracy as implemented by the Westminster Parliamentary/Republican Congress model was designed to overcome the impracticality of every man and woman having a voice in government.

That was around 300 years ago.

It is an anachronism now, corrupt, inefficient and counter productive.

I do not have a problem with what you and the Seoul brother are saying. But, how do we reform i?. Can it be reformed or does it need to be replaced.

Quote from: "Bricktop"Where will we find a socialist to join us...there must be some at Van.

Soon, Eddie or TD. Take your pick.

The last hard lefty that posted here was Peaches. Now he's an American leftist and they are pretty extreme. He turned off all of us by making excuses for instead of disavowing leftist political violence.

Most progtards on either forum are frickin bonkers. Ms Peaches, on the other hand was a marxist piece of shit.

Bricktop

If I had the answer to that, I could rule the world.

The thing is, THEY are not the problem, WE are.

We don't know what we want in terms of a governing capability. Some want socialism, some want capitalism, some want anarchy, some want a cold beer and a 24 hr Duck Dynasty channel.

One size no longer fits all...and perhaps the only remedy is to fracture into separate communities that govern in diverse ways, and we pick the one that suits us best.

The notion of a political State that governs all that dwell within seems to be the gorilla in the room.

But, I thought you didn't like sub national governments like provinces in Canada or states in the USA and Australia?

Bricktop

I don't...simply because we already have a Federal government.

Its one, or the other. Both simply does not work!!!

So, your preference would be state governments and no power in Canberra?

He's a Federalist who doesn't acknowledge local governance or States rights, as far as I can ascertain. He'd like to centralize all authority into the hands of a federal government, which I find to be a scary prospect.

That's not what I think he's saying, but he can answer that himself.

Bricktop

As usual, Freud gets it all wrong.

I reject the need for 2 levels of statutory government, as well as local councils. If we live under a common constitution, then we need one FEDERAL government. If States live under separate Constitutions, they should be separate States.

If Freud finds Federal governments scary, he should avoid visiting countries like Singapore, France, Belgium, Switzerland, the UK and pretty much every other country except the US and Canada, who suffer under dual government control.

Then again, as he demonstrates so often, he is an idiot...

Frood

ie no checks and balances and no right to self determination. ie authoritarian top down tyranny when the milk goes sour. No thanks. Bricktop is the clear moron in this instance. No contest.

It's the duplication and waste that comes with it you don't like.

Gee.

Did I say that?

Kindly point out where I did.

So you agree with self determination, checks and balances, but you're against State's Rights ie local governance which has traditionally assured that the despotic hand of federalized nation states has been slowed or stopped and you think it's a waste which should be eliminated or the region should break away?

 :001_rolleyes:

Yeah, because Federal governments always accept breakaway regions.
