Live music goes here.
Although I didn't see 'em at the Fillmore, I did see Humble Pie in concert. Glad I did. I'd say my favorite cut from their Fillmore album is:

This album was huge when it came out. Frankly, I got sick of it as it got played to death, IMHO. That said, I saw Frampton years later after his flame had faded. I have to hand it to him - his is an excellent musician. And, this song is good:

Stu, check this tune out.

Anyone remember The James Gang? They had a nice run until Joe Walsh left. I saw 'em in concert in support of the Bang album and it was good. I didn't realize at the time that it would also be one of the later performances of the great Tommy Bolin who , sadly, OD'd at only 25 years of age.
I saw 'em years later on one of the reunion tours with Joe Walsh. Anyway, this is a live recording of their signature tune at Carnegie Hall:

Besides being a great song, the fun part of this video is watching Toy. He was an ol' thumb-picker.
Amen.
I aint too fussy about this live.

When I think
most memorable live performance, Alvin Lee's Woodstock masterpiece as front man of Ten Years After immediately comes to mind. He left us in 2013, but he lives on thanks to performances like this:

I like early Eagles with Glenn Frey on vocals. They were more country and less pop than they were with Don Henley singing.

I saw Yoakam live some years ago at an outdoor concert. Helluva show. His cover of an old Johnny Horton classic launched his rocket to stardom:

I think of Free as the precursor to Bad Company. They sold over 20 million records. This song'll still be played a hunnerd years from now:

Were some of the members of Free in Bad Company?
Quote from: Herman on January 17, 2025, 08:46:42 PMWere some of the members of Free in Bad Company?
Yes. Free was formed by Paul Rodgers, Paul Kossoff, Simon Kirke and Andy Fraser. Problems arose, the net result of which was that Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke formed Bad Comoany along with Mick Ralphs and Boz Burrell.

I wasn't into them either. The lead singer is an interesting cat. He's an accomplished fencer and an airline pilot. Not your typical metal singer.
Neil Young is a hypocritical prog wanker, but I like a few of his tunes.

The band .38 Special was formed in 1974. One of the founders was vocalist and guitarist Donnie Van Zant, brother of Ronnie and Johnny Van Zant of Skynyrd fame. This 1980 number is always good:

A lot of 'em have become waaay too pricey these days. I can afford 'em, but that's not the point. If the price feels greedy, fuck 'em. I'll stay home.

There is that. I don't like getting ripped off.
And the closest city to me, Saskatoon doesn't get the best concerts anyway.

Burton Cummings - one of the best rock vocalists of all time. I saw Guess Who without him. Not nearly as good; not even close. Without him, Guess Who was just a pretty good cover band.
