Noticed a dead rat in the garden and it seemed peculiar not having any teeth marks or signs of a fight with our aging cat who seldom takes on rats anymore.

Tried to get her close to it to see if she would gloat but she didn't want a bar of it.



Then I had a 'I wonder' moment and checked a recently erupted toadstool nearby.

Sure enough, a good chunk was gnawed off.



If you weren't aware, the mushroom (Fly Amanita) isn't only sickening to humans when eaten without proper preparation, it really hits animals hard.



And it's a hallucinogen and funny when you think of it.



Rats never venture out into the open during daylight. It's part of their OS. Rats and mice stick to clear paths of what they know, only this girl (or guy, I'm not about to check though) gorged and then decided, fck it! Then managed to scare the shit out of the cat in order to die staring up at the sky while still trying to grip the grass like a hippy on bad acid at the original Woodstock.   :thumbup:



If I weren't a human being, I could think of no better way to meet my maker in style.  ac_biggrin

Wish I could get a better picture of him, they look cuter in person, poor thing was kinda nervous when I pulled out my big zoom camera and aim it towards him,  :laugh:  same with all my birds too.

Rabbits are frightened by almost every movement.
