Scored some yearling sirloin steaks for under 20 bucks a kilo yesterday.

3 of the delectable lil puppies.

Plan for this weekend is:

1. Steak and egg breakfast with mushrooms, baked beans, bacon, and asparagus, and Texas toast.

2. Cheese steaks with onion, capsicum, mushrooms.

3. Sunday bbq brunch... combination, with added corn on the cob, broccolini, lamb forequarter chops, sausages.

That sounds so good

Forgot that I bought some minced lamb which really needed to be cooked asap so didn't bother with the fry up.

Made Tex mex styled mince with a handful of spices (heavier on the cumin), reserved some for a loaded nachos snack later,the rest in mini Shepard's pie's with corn, cheese, and caramelised onion. I'll take those to work if they don't get eaten by Monday.

Heating up cooked bratwurst and corn on the cob with a side of New England Clam Chowder.

And a beer, of course.

Warming my legs up on the front deck with the morning sun and sipping a coffee. Magpies keep flying over to the table looking for a free feed, I can't be bothered going inside to look for some biscuits or stale bread crusts, so they eventually go away.

I don't need to look anything up. My deck is grand central station for birds and they follow my machines through the parks. Maybe your WA versions have evolved differently from the East Coast though.

Kookaburra's will only eat meat or animals like frogs, snakes, bugs, worms, fish. You can try to stick carbs down their throats and they'll still refuse.

Magpies will take a cashew, biscuit, bread crust, rice, cookie, pasta, chips, pretzels 1st EVERY time... then bring more Maggie's back to sit on your lap, the table, the ledge and sing for supper.

I never met Greg, though I did know his tour manager (Cassandra Curse's brother in law) and I'd worked with Men At Work's John Rees (bass player) years before. Decent, honest, down to earth people and from everything I know about the guy and those he knocked about with, Greg was cut of the same cloth.

I can't look at one of those birds without associating them with the Sword of Damocles that dangled over Greg Ham's head for over a quarter of a century before some tone deaf nitwit on a shitty game show (on the ABC no less) gave Larrakin Records the idea there was some royalties to be had.

Fuck kookaburras. I always preferred magpies anyway.
