My little unexpected sister was born when I was 15 years old... we went through 3-4 lots of VHS tapes for The Little Mermaid and Oklahoma as well as Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.

She'd play those VHS constantly through the entire day like a radio station, then they'd wear down and disintegrate after a year or so...

 My great aunt had the whole Disney collection on VHS. I watched the Little Mermaid, Gay Puree, Sleeping Beauty all the time lol.

I never had VHS as a child.... we watched stuff the regular way.... whatever they put on and you sat there and liked it or lumped it.

We had cable TV and Betamax as well as Laser discs in my young years (ie the 70's and 80's).

I guess your swamp took another 20 years to catch up... 

We had VHS in the eighties and then DVD's in the nineties.

We had cable TV in 1978-79... but only the basic package because the others were SO dear...

Basic was some cartoons and classic movies/series.

I still have a few VHS tapes lying around and a converter to move them onto a DVD.

Mostly stuff like old home movies that were themselves captured on VHS from the original Super8 films which are almost all gone now cuz they're old as fuck and unusable anyway.
