Shoplifting reports soared in L.A. last year



Shoplifting reports in Los Angeles surged by 81% in 2023 over the prior year, according to police data compiled by a nonprofit news organization.

Crosstown looked at crime statistics that the L.A. Police Department posted publicly on a city website last week.

It shows retailers reported 11,945 shoplifting cases in 2023, more than five thousand cases higher than in 2022 (6,585), which was a more typical year, as compared to pre-pandemic levels.

Overall, retail crime, which includes shoplifting and felony smash-and-grabs, climbed 15% in 2023, according to Crosstown.

Midway through 2023, local leaders announced a task force to combat the rising number of smash-and-grab cases that were occurring almost daily in the Los Angeles metro area – many during broad daylight in crowded stores.

Despite a record year of rain the Democrats in California refused to allow reservoirs to capture that water "for the environment" so later this summer they will be limiting irrigation water to farmers.  They are anti-human and want to cause mass famine world wide

And so California has lost more than 800,000 residents in three years, as people flee to sanity. They are, in fact, moving to America, and businesses are leaving with them. So Democrats keep winning elections in California, and they keep moving harder and harder to the left, and taxpayers are racing for the exits. And now: a $58 billion deficit that quickly turns into a $73 billion deficit.

What voting won't stop, capital flight will.

File this under stupid unrealistic ideas which won't actually work.  Leftists worry about poor people who drove old cars which are more polluting and get worse gas mileage.  They therefore propose a $1000 subsidy to encourage these poor people to supposedly buy a new EV car.  The problem?

Dirt poor people can't afford $50,000 EVs even if you give them a $1000 rebate.
