In can't believe I am writing this thread, but this is the sad state of forums.

We have applied restrictions, but not banned three posters since I took over from Erica Mena.

No explanation necessary. What he is doing on forums all day getting angry with people he will never meet is beyond me. If I lived in a warm climate and retired, I would be golfing every day of the week.

He can login and post anytime if he wanted to. But, our login process is too complicated for him.

Flynn
While I personally think flaming was never as entertaining as others say it was, there is no denying it is dead today.

But, he restricted his efforts to bring back flaming from the dead to Guest Nest and Octagon. I respected him for that.

The problem with Flynn is that he enjoys peddling PI. A big no no. That is a total breach of the spirit of anonymous message boards.

Biggie is handling his situation, so I am unsure of his privileges status here.

A prehistoric troll that cannot accept that the reality of forums today. There just is not enough traffic for his type of disruption anymore. 

I really wanted a Shoutbox when I took over this forum. I told Biggie Smiles that and he created one.

I don't feel like paying for a feature that one person spams with like a dozen posts in a row. How is that any different from the East European spambots we get. Nobody appreciated what Joe was doing.

Unfortunately, I do not know how to restrict anyone from just the shoutbox, so other restrictions have to be applied to keep them from shitting it up.

I was going to apply the restrictions for one week, but I think I have them all lifted now. If I see a dozen spam posts in the morning, they go right back on.

The Shoutbox is meant for a quick "howz yo mama" and "G'day cobber". It was never meant for serious or meaningful discussion. As long as Joe is not waffling on about his gold shares, you should be fine.

As for Flynn...fuck the character off. He's mostly interested in incest, cock, arse, and last but not least...PI.

And Skidmarkmajor is a paedophile. You don't want to encourage his heinous activities here.

Joe is just being Joe and holding his own. You need not have him on ignore. He's quite humorous when he wants to be.

Lately it's been hilarious seeing his barely restrained fury over Trump's triumphant win! 

This kind of stuff is what I definitely don't miss about having to run a forum.

Trying to be objective as possible when it comes down to actionable forum conduct can be complicated, annoying, never pleases everyone, and is often a thankless job no matter how events shake out.

For what it's worth I think the team here does a fine job of it.
