Justine has said our big next-door neighbour wants to make us part of their country. And he is convinced President Trump is eager to gobble us up whether we agree to it or not. And yet somehow, Trudeau doesn't see that as as much of a threat to our democracy and sovereignty as a bunch of 18-wheeler drivers stealing all the good parking spots and setting up hot tubs and bouncy castles in the heart of our nation's capital.

Of course, Trudeau is motivated not by the threat of Trump's annexation, but by the threat of a federal election. The sooner the next election is fought, the greater the chance the Liberals will lose. If they can hold out until the fall, maybe they can squeak out another minority or at least hold Pierre Poilievre and his Conservatives to a minority.
