That means that, unlike the current system, Canadians won't know how much they're paying or how it will impact their standard of living because the carbon price will be hidden from them, given that consumer prices are impacted by a variety of factors.

I haven't looked so forgive me, but... is there any language about carbon credit trading in the proposed changes?

Because if there is then "the biggest polluters" will skate as they always have.

I sold up and pulled up stumps from there five years ago, right about the time it became apparent that the "two weeks to flatten the curve" were going to be dragged out to unreasonable lengths. Then I flew to Scat Fagcrisco and divested myself of my interests there as well.

Got that so far? Good. Now recognise this next bit, it's actually kinda important. If there is a surplus of carbon dioxide, trees will produce (get this) MORE OXYGEN!!!! WOweee, who knew? Well actually, a whole bunch of people do, glad you asked. I know from personal experience there are these things called "greenhouses", perhaps you've heard of them? Plants get grown in them you know. And in some of them, the people running the damn things will actually ADD carbon dioxide to them because it makes the plants grow even biggerer.

SCIENCE!!!

Full disclosure; trees do need other things to go along with that growth spurt of course... they like to "eat" certain minerals from out of the ground, as well as drink water from it, but (and here's the exciting part), Mother Nature generally tends to supply that last part by shitting rain from the sky and evolving these things called "farmers" to do things like rotating crops and various other arcane trickery to facilitate the first. Side note: a byproduct of the stuff of these "farmers" includes the stocking of shelves at your local supermarket with things you can eat, so you too can grow Big and Strong... just like the trees do. Maybe even grow a functioning BRAIN to appreciate just how amazingly magical the whole arrangement is!

It's a neat little system that works. And it has worked exactly like this for many, many years... more years than you can count of your fingers and toes in fact. It is self correcting too... you get too much of one thing, everything else adjusts to address the imbalance.

So the next time you get a true dope telling you that something like carbon dioxide is "pollution", you can point and laugh at him for what a dumbass and a fuckwit that he is.

Or, alternatively, you may point and laugh at yourself for believing his shit and allowing it to dictate your lives. And the self correcting nature of this planet will ultimately squeeze you and your bloodline out of existence like the evolutionary dead end you are if you're stupid enough. The planet will in fact survive even if you don't; it has gotten exceptionally good at doing that over the 4.3 billion years that it's been around.
