California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Friday that the Golden State will move forward with a special election in early November to place its own redistricting plan on a ballot measure before voters.

It's not the same as what Texas is doing. Newsom is bypassing the state's independent redistricting commission and adopt a new congressional map ahead of the 2026 elections.

Cali is already gerrymandered AF. I doubt they would be able to pick up a single seat. Same with Illinois. They already gerrymandered the GOP out of 2/3rds of their representation.
