There was a saying among expats I heard when I worked in South America and Asia. I cannot remember exactly how it was said because I was usually drunk when I was in both continents. Basically it went bringing your White old lady to those continents is like bringing coals to Newcastle.

When I lived in South America, the white female imports and whiter skinned locals acted like trapped spoiled 
princesses. I get why the locals were wary, kind of...but wtf.... the imports moved there intentionally.
