Sorry if this topic has been breached before.  I truly wanted the opinion of someone who is in the biz or very verily familiar with the biz; like Prowler.

I watch youtube channels like Professor of Rock, Rick Beato & Justin Hawkins or the Charismatic Voice.

So these channels get hit with copyright strikes.

The channels claim fair use.

What's your opinion?

As I made a comment to someone; I mostly watch youtube on a smart tv.  In a 15 minute video by Rick Beato, I see no commercialism.  Now.... he may have his course for sale in the video description or pinned at the top of the comments section but I don't see it on tv because he never mentions his for sale course in the video and I don't see the comments or the video discription.  In fact, even on phones, the vid description is truncated so no one would see his ad link unless they clicked on & expanded the vid description.

So what's the ultimate deal here?

Are these youtubers using music to sell their shit and skirting copyrights?  Or is this fair or fair enough use?

Genuinely interested in sparking fierce debates here.

GO!

I have never seen anything like that from The Charismatic Voice.

Don't know much about the industry or copyrights but it would seem obvious that you can't just rip a track from Red Hot Chili Peppers and use it in a commercial to sell your product. Not without paying royalties anyway.

How many seconds of a clip are worth how much to use in a video?

I'm asking in terms of value vs worth.

Economy says house is worth 300k at 7% apr vs reality which is clip is worth $50 bucks no interest because 30 year old song.

Reality kinda curb stomps fantasty.

Fantasty is a ham sandwich precovid is 5 bucks then post covid is 15 bucks.

Reality is swine are plentiful so no ham sandwich no matter how stuffed will ever be worth 15 bucks and not even if the swine is equilalent to a kobe beef because cd listeners will love even if not FLAC lossless.

The Charismatic Voice commented on Beato's vid saying she gets hit with copyright strikes too.

Charismatic Voice listens to songs & talks through the singing methods the person is using.  Professor of Rock talks about history of the band & the song.  Beato is similar.

The video isn't a commercial but they may have a link pinned at the top of their comment's section.

Some say because the video is monetized then any clip of any song could have a copyright strike.

How much would you pay to a copyright holder for a five second clip (not even the famous chorus hook) to make a video to tell the history of that song & band?

Youtube pays an artist $0.008 for an entire song.

3 minute song is 180 seconds.

.008 ÷ 180 = .00004 per second.

.00004 per second × 5 second clip = .0002

So these copyright strikes are for $0.0002

See how petty this is now?
