There's been a chipmunk colony under there as long as I've lived here.  25 years. They used to annoy my wife when she did her yard stuff because they'd dig up her flowers. 

One day she told one of our cats, a calico named Hissy who was a feral we took in, to catch those damned chipmunks.  That cat sat on that porch stoop all day, and at dinner time brought a fat dead chipmunk inside and laid it on the floor by the kitchen stove. She was bringing my wife a gift and contributing to the larder.

I remember in the national parks back in Canada they would take food from my hand. Squirrels would not do that.
