Quote from: formosan on January 30, 2026, 08:30:15 AMI see......better plans would've covered more and you wouldn't have been forced to pay as much for your surgery.

Not exactly, a better plan was over twice the price. So if nothing is wrong with me, Im still paying all that money each month, for nothing. Where this out of nowhere thing happened to me recently, Im paying more based on the incident.

So lets see....

$120m X 12m = $1440y
$1440y X 10y = $14,400

$250m X 12m = $3000y
$3000y X 10y = $30,000

Difference is over $15,000, and Im paying $9000 for a major incident vs $4000 (I think). That is over $20,000 I would save on the cheaper plan in 10 years, vs throwing all that money into one that offers a lil more and not needing it.

Now, when my body starts to age, I "might" need more coverage, guess it would depend. But most ailments are fixable at home, and most Docs are full of shit lol.

Quote from: deadskinmask on January 30, 2026, 09:25:06 AMmy kids and grandkids go regularly.... i don't go at all.... my last visit was a workmans comp situation so i was obligated.... but since covid, i've lost any and all faith in doctors....

Same, I dont trust them at all.

I feel it wasn't AS bad back in our day, but now... I trust most Docs about as far as I can throw Oak.

Quote from: deadskinmask on January 30, 2026, 09:31:26 AMi'm old fashioned.... if i get a service, i pay the price agreed upon.... i'm pushing to reclaim the high-trust society we once had....

Lol, sure, I'd pay if the price wasn't so damn high lol.

To be fair, since I only go once every 10 years, I only dipped out on 1 or 2 bills, teehee.

I remember this one time, I was DYING, first and only kidney stone I had, one of the worst pain ever, right in the kidney. Had my brother take me cause I could barely drive, almost passing out from the pain. I was on the way taking my son to the dentist when it hit, told my son to grab the wheel if I pass out and pull the emergency brake lol. ANYWAY, I get to the Dr, he has me piss in a cup, and I peed the stone out. Dr said "looks like you cured yourself" and yet the motherfucker still sent me a bill for $250 lol. I did pay it, even though I cUreD mYSelF!  :crampe:

I know have seen people with master's degrees that are as smart as turnips.

Health care in Singapore puts Canada and the US to shame. I can see a doctor within a day or two. We can get into a hospital for any procedure or service quickly. Out of pocket expenses are minimal.

Quote from: Blazor on January 30, 2026, 11:02:07 AMI think its $1440 a year on me, employer around $7k Im pretty sure.

I have a chart I have to go by, as far as what is free, what has a copay and how much, what I have to pay 30% of, etc.

Physical therapy is $35 a pop til I hit my max out of pocket.... which I already have. Does cover some meds, think my pills cost me $7 after the surgery, but I only needed the pain ones for a couple days, and the baby Aspirin to prevent any blood clots.

I did get the mid grade Dental, and Vision, they were the main things I wanted, like I could of cared less on the health one lol. They were cheap to add too, like less than $20 a month I think.

Yeah the deductible is $4000, and max out of pocket is $5000, and I've met both of those for the year. When I talked to HR, they "thought" the deductible was part part of the max, but its not.
This gives me an idea of how it works for an employee. Assuming your plan is typical of what employers offer their employees.

Mine will be different because I will not have an employer paying half.

if ppl would limit the amount of treatment they received, the prices would drop at the same rate.... ppl with insurance have no issue getting checked for every little sniffle.... this keeps that money machine well greased.... but i assure you as the money dries up, the prices would drop....

Nobody at VF has a post grad degree. That would require logging out of the forum for a few hours a day. Joe, Eddie, and asal are incapable of doing that.

This is driving up the cost of public health care in Canada. Emergency rooms should not be filled with people with upset stomachs.

I have heard rumblings of this in the Florida panhandle over drinks after golf. I want to have that conversation with them sober some time.

Going good so far, they have me doing exercises at home everyday, and they have me do some there with electric shock therapy lol. Im entering week 4 this week, and they gonna try and put me on a bike. I can bend my knee to 90 degrees now. Going twice a week, but after this week it drops to once a week. Around first of March, they will evaluate, and possibly extend another month. Im supposed to be back to work by mid April no matter what.
