I don't know much about TV On The Radio.  They were formed 2001 in Brooklyn, NY. One thing I do know is that I like this song:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Some new music from Disturbed.

Mastodon is from Atlanta, Georgia and was formed in 2000.  The four man lineup remained the same for 24 years, until guitarist Brent Hinds left in March 2025.  Tragically, he was killed in a motorcycle wreck just three days ago when a SUV failed to yield at an intersection.

I've not listened to much by them, although they have had some serious success over their existence. I could've posted this track in the cover thread, but the flip-of-the-coin put it here. And I must say, this cover of the ZZ Top classic is outstanding:

Amen.

Good band and an excellent cover.

FireHouse was formed 1984 in Richmond, Virginia. I'd heard of 'em, but that's about it. I never listened to 'em. If you'd asked me to name just one song by them, crickets would be all you'd hear. Well, I saw 'em live for the hell of it a few nights back.  They blew me away.

FireHouse's lead singer is Nate Peck, a former contestant on American Idol. He stepped in for long-time singer and co-founder C.J. Snare, who died April 5, 2024. Nate was super.  Drummer Michael Nelson and bassist Allen McKenzie provide a great pounding bottom  for the music.  And lead guitarist Bill Leverty is a ridiculously  outstanding master shredder.

This is their most recent song and has Peck on vocals:

The next number features C.J.Snare, RIP, and is one of their hits:

Amen.
Deo vindice

Very sad about Brad Arnold dying far too early.

While I'm not a rabid fan of G & R, they do have some songs I like - from years ago. And Axl Rose has come across to me as a big turd.  But I suppose there are plenty who'd say the same about me.

Time and again we've seen countless bands and artists fall flat trying to either keep the glory days going, or somehow bring them back. From what I've seen, most of 'em fail.

G & R is going on tour this year.  I have no way of knowing how that'll go. That said, this is a very new song, released 12-4-2025. It's nothing like what I expected, but I must say - it is different and it is good:

I like GNR's music but I do NOT like Axll Rose's vocals. I thought Velvet Revolver with Scott Weiland was better.

However, I'll give this song a listen.

Actually, I liked Weiland's  voice better, too. I really liked STP.

There's something different about Axl's voice on that new song. Not squealy like the old days.

Amen.

This is the best Axl Rose song with GNR I've ever heard. His vocals have matured for the better. That is unusual for hard rock/metal vocalists.

Stu, this is an example of what I'm talking about with aging metal singers.

Rob Halford is one of my fave vocalists. However, he'll be 75 this year. His extreme vocals that made him a legend with Judas Priest are impossible to maintain at his age.

It really is time for the Priest to hang up their leather and studs.

This is a terrible version of Freewheel Burning. It's a few years old I think.
