Quote from: Blazor on May 02, 2026, 10:32:08 AMThat does look nice! I use to think about the S&W .38 special ultra light, still do lol, but the one you mentioned fires .357, which is the my favorite round in a pistol lol.

Surprisingly, full power 357's arent too bad out of it. I keep 38 home defense rounds in it mostly. The best thing about it is its beefy so 38sp is manageable for women, not that my wife would actually pull the trigger.

Also, and maybe just as important to me, the PRO version of the 640 does NOT have the "Hillary hole", the common name for the trigger lock S&W added to all their revolvers back in the 90's.

You can still buy this version today!

A long time ago, they made it illegal to carry, or have in your vehicle..... unless you were going to a tournament or to karate practice. I can own them though, I have about 4-5 pairs lol.

My karate membership card got me out of a fine once lol.

I got one pair, that is collapsible. Breaks down into 3 sections per chuck. Easy to carry on the belt, and break out when needed. Our rights to bear arms shall not be infringed.

Quote from: Blazor on May 03, 2026, 03:03:41 AMA trigger lock? Hillary hole?

From A.I.:
The "Hillary Hole" is a disparaging nickname for the internal key-lock safety mechanism found on many post-2000 Smith & Wesson revolvers, designed to lock the action. Introduced under political pressure during the Clinton administration, it is criticized for ruining aesthetics, symbolizing a surrender to gun control, and potential, though rare, malfunction during recoil.Key details about the "Hillary Hole":Origin: The lock was implemented following a 2000 agreement between Smith & Wesson and federal/state governments to prevent lawsuits, often attributed to political influence from the Clinton era.Function: It is a small hole located on the frame, above the cylinder release, that requires a specific key to lock the hammer and render the gun inoperable.Criticisms:Aesthetics: Collectors and shooters widely dislike the look, calling it a blemish.Reliability: Concerns exist that high recoil can cause the lock to engage involuntarily, disabling the firearm.Symbolism: It is widely considered a symbol of capitulation to government pressure.Industry Response: The feature led to a massive boycott of Smith & Wesson products at the time.Aftermarket Solutions: Kits are available from companies like Original Precision to remove the mechanism, sometimes called "lock delete" kits.Current Status: As of 2025, Smith & Wesson has begun phasing out this, with some classic, high-end, or specific models now appearing without the lock.

Not even frickin close. The iron rice bowl is gone. Chinese have choices todat about what they do, what food they can eat, what they can study, they travel abroad, they are consumers, they can own property, and on and on.

Mom was 15 when Mao died. She told me she thought God had died because she was forced to worship him. Just 10 years later she couldn't remember anything good about him.

Former Chairman Jiang Zemin died last year. Most Chinese barely noticed. And it will be that way when Chairman Xi croaks too.
