Ontario had 2,359 new coronavirus cases, and 52 deaths today. While still very high, the number of new infections is down from their peak. They are down a lot in fact.

I read Northern Ontario's infections are really low.

That is true. Some Northern Ontario mayors were angry with Ford for implenting a province wide lockdown when their communities are hundreds kms away from the main areas of spread, or the case of NW Onterio, more than a thousand kms away.

colchicine, an oral tablet already known and used for other diseases.



For Dr. Jean-Claude Tardif, who led the study, this is a "major scientific discovery," he said. Colchicine is the first "effective oral drug to treat out-of-hospital patients."



The ColCorona study involved 4,159 patients whose diagnosis of COVID-19 had been confirmed by a nasopharyngeal test (PCR).



Analysis of the study found that colchicine resulted in reductions in hospitalizations by 25 per cent, the need for mechanical ventilation by 50 per cent, and deaths by 44 per cent.
