Yes. Up 1 1/2 times in 4 days (UK, Italy, France, Spain for sure and likely others)

I don't think any European countries are talking going back into lock down, besides Britain.

I appreciate that is  the intent. The numbers will decide and are growing quite rapidly in France, UK, Italy, Spain, Netherlands that I'm tracking  .. like double in 2 weeks

Remember, whatever the intent, no country or area for that matter can let it overrun the hospital capacites

Germany is the only one I see as having a chance (based on rising numbers of others)

I haven't checked to see if fatality rates and hospitalization rates in Europe are lower with the second wave.

cc

Example - Currently France is 3.2 deaths / case now - not sure how to find before

Where do you find the old numbers and rates?

I'll check my old sheet - I did not keep cases etc for Europe back then, but may have done the rates on a certain date in June

That is since the pandemic began. I read the fatality rate has dropped in the last few months as the number of new infections has soared.

We have more people hospitalized, but the number of cases has gone up at least three fold since the end of our lock down.

Ontario recorded 978 new cases of COVID and six new deaths today.

Yes. It's not looking good anywhere .. rising rising rising

That said, in some places death rate is decreased, but that's been the pattern starting a month in until now

Alberta had 432 new infections and four deaths on Friday..

There are outbreaks at a provincial jail, two hospitals and many schools.

The population of Alberta is about one third that of Ontario, so you can see how fast it's spreading out West.

Unfortunately, we can only go by reported cases - Records of asymptomatic are sparse

Looking back at the initial highs which were overwhelming then, Total Canada cases had built up to around 1200 / day in April & May (which were difficult to deal with)

During August, Canada was down to approx 350 new cases / day

Since then it has climbed to where last week has averaged 2,500 + / day (double the early peak and rising daily now)

Death Rates: These are from totals from the start and some have come down considerably of late  - thus today is a  somewhat lower rate for some than in the early days of March, April, May + (April, the highest for cases, jumped  from 9,000 recorded cases  to 53,000 for example .. May not too far behind that rate .. then it slowed down a lot as closures took place)

TODAY Death Rates:

Canada as a whole - 1 / 21.5 cases ........ (Improved by about 40% from early days)

BC  1/ 50 cases ............. (Improved by about 60%+ from early days)

Alberta   1 / 80 cases

Ontario  1/ 22 cases

Quebec 1 / 16 cases

(I don't have early numbers on most, so can't compare current improvement on them)

I'm using totals from the start - Therefore for those improving their care, if one took last cpl of months only, rates would be even better than above)

The only good news is that death rates / reported case are decreasing in most areas with Quebec remaining highest in # of daily cases and deaths / case

Currently Quebec daily cases are remaining level while Ontario and others are rising rapidly (ON is now almost up to Quebec for daily new cases for example)
