Maybe not...I have an 1848 US Army Musician's sword. It's a type of spadroon that would have been worn by army band members, battlefiedfield drummers and such, during the mid 19th century. Don't tell Blazor but it is a Yankee weapon... :laugh3:

I also have 2 rapier simulators, 1 off hand dagger and 1 complex hilt side sword that were custom made for me for historical 17th century rapier fencing. They are blunts made by Darkwood Armory. I needed to learn how to handle a rapier for my Renn Faire work and I ended up working with a classical fencing group out of NYC that taught 17th century rapier from the old 17th century treatises. I still have the the published reproduction fencing manuals from several of the old masters like Capoferro, Fabris and Agrippa.

You must have people wanting to buy it. Was it passed down through the generations in your family?

It came to me from my father and I believe it came to him from a cousin. I don't know how it ended up in our family exactly.

As for people wanting to buy it...I wish that were the case. These type of military swords from the 19th century are quite common and have very little value outside collector or reenactment circles. In fact I saw one on Ebay going for about $200 dollars not long ago. My custom rapier simulators are actually worth more.

My maternal grandmother was born in Japan. She came to Canada as a child and was interned during the second world war. I don't have any Oriental features and I have a German surname, so some people don't believe I have some Japanese blood.

I took Japanese martial arts for nearly 8 years. Seishin Kai. Combo of Akido, Jujistsu, and Karate.
