Even if it was illegal, how could the cops enforce it. Just say it was like that when you got it.

For example, the idiots that run our Government recently passed a law that makes it illegal to drive within one metre of a cyclist.



Seems simple enough, except;



Any conviction for a breach must rely on an ESTIMATION by the observing police officer. "Was the distance EXACTLY one metre"? "I cannot say. It looked like a metre". "So, is it possible that it was 900mm"?



The distance is more likely to be closed BY THE CYCLIST. Unless the motorist deliberately veers towards the bicycle, it is reasonable to expect that the car maintains a straight course. Cyclists, on the other hand, find that difficult. Especially in havy traffic.



So, idiotic laws that cannot be policed are not uncommon.

Canada is pretty good about not creating uninforceable laws.  There are some stupid ones but I compare it to the US and they seem to have more (thanks for always being better than us America!).

Yes, it applies only in South Australia. Other States laugh at our stupidity.
