Self driving cars!  Bring them on!

I can't wait to see the first forty thousand car pile up with all the lithium batteries going up like nuclear bombs and people trying desperately to bail out of the windows (because the doors won't open) as they head toward ground zero.

Oh easter, you're so doom and gloom!  What's a few lithium battery fires when you can play Jenga while operating a motor vehicle?

My husband is trying to talk me into getting a Tesla.  Any day now I'll be getting grafts (is that the word I want?) and financial outlooks.

I thought I heard you have to put down money to enter a draw to buy one. I am going to wait and see if the product matches the hype.

They are on back order a mile long because they made the new model affordable.

Okay, I wondered about the putting a down payment to enter a draw for one. If you purchase one, give us a Phil Edmunston lemon aid style honest rating of it.

The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tesla_Model_S">weakest Tesla battery (40kwh)= 144 mega Joules. (40,000 watts x 3600 seconds)

Quote1 kilogram of TNT =  4.184 mega joules

Under controlled conditions one kilogram of TNT can destroy (or even obliterate) a small vehicle.

So it's like sitting on 34 kg of TNT, unless you have the one that's like 70 kg. I need that 'scared' smiley now.

My understanding is there are tons of checks and balances within the battery itself plus it a series of smaller batteries to mitigate a huge blow up. That's in addition to the cooling, fuses, etc.
