THE FUTURE of euro currency and the entire EU project looks unsustainable without major change, according to a damning review by the International Monetary Fund and renowned economists.

The IMF did warn of economic chaos in the event of a Leave victory and has urged for a "smooth transition" for post-EU Britain.

The international organisation said: "The euro area is at a critical juncture. Muddling through is increasingly untenable.

"Unless collective problems are solved, the euro area is likely to suffer repeated bouts of economic and political instability leading to crises of confidence and economic setbacks."

In the damning statement, it said the migrant crisis could even spell the end of free movement and warned that other countries in the bloc could want their own referendums following the Brexit vote.

A Nobel Prize winning economist even said that Europe may have to "abandon the euro".

The economist, Professor Christopher Pissarides, has said that the uncertainty would reduce investment and hit job creation

We all knew EU's been dicey / a crock at best for a long while

If UK leaving alone tips the scales - it wasn't a hell of a lot to begin with

and UK got out in time

Out of control immigration has added more to the instability - Seems the EU is really trying hard to end itself?

Only a racist, Islamophobic, fucked in the head, fruitcake, twirlybrained moron cyberbully like cc la femme thinks immigration was bad for the European Union.

Mass EU migration into Britain is actually good news for UK economy

Well to be fair to the Europeans, I wouldn't doubt that the mass immigration thang was Obama's making and that of the USA. America pressured the Europeans into accepting all those refugees, because they knew their own people wouldn't accept them. This isn't the first time they dumped the first time they dropped the problem on everybody else. I remember Vietnam, and those thousands of refugees that everyone else had to accept because the USA made that mess over there.

The states have traditionally taken in a shitload of refugees. A good chunk of them economic migrants just like in Canada.

It should be a helluva lot harder to qualify for refugee status. It should not be a pathway to citizenship either.

The smart thing for EU to do would be to try to broker terms to keep England in the EU.  The EU can sit down and discuss making changes by listening to countries that have issues with the governance structure.  They could then put it back to a vote.

Undo the results of the referendum? The EU lost. The IMF is right, the best thing for both sides is a smooth transition for a post EU Britain.

What is becoming obvious is that it's the EU that needs Britain, not vice versa.

True. Without the UK, it's downhill even fasted from here on in.

UK got out before the inevitable train wreck  .... and yes, UK leaving will make the wreck happen sooner

If the EU get's over its hissy fit, it will (maybe) make deals with UK re trade etc and at least try to help itself

The EU does a lot of stupid things, but I would hope they will not cut off their nose to spite their face. If they do, it would speed up and not slow down the demise of the EU.

So let 'ER die.  Everything will settle with the change.

I am sure the bureaucracy in Brussels will say there will be an invasion of locusts. However, it would probably be like the four members of the EFTA.  Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland aren't doing too badly. Their goods still move across Europe.

Maybe it will be like the old EEC before the Maastricht Treaty. Whatever the case, the end of the EU is not end of the world. In fact, it could present opportunity if done right.

The EU returns to it's member states the areas of sovereignty that they had taken over. The EU becomes a free trade bloc like ASEAN.
