Ooh the dark crystal! I have it on dvd...I only buy dvds that are my fave! Lo likes watching scary movies but she wont watch this one as she says its disturbing.  I never actually realized until she said something and some of the scences are disturbing.



Lo saw the trailer for the movie, the purge and was asking me if something like this could ever happen in real life....i was floored when she asked me that and I really didnt know what to say?? We live in a sick world and anything is possible, and shit does happen...some of her questions these days get my mind turning...kids are a curious smart.

yeah both Labyrinth and Dark Crystal had occult undertones , Dark Crystal supposedly even used subliminal satanic imagery



if you liked Dark Crystal Jim Hensons studio also made a  dark fantasy called Mirrormask in 2005 and the story revolves around a 15 year old girl(so that might help Lo to relate) but it used more CGI then muppets and pales in comparison really (RIP Jim Henson) ...

I loved part one, thought part 2 was a bit cheesy.

Then nevermind part 3... .. I think I remember there was an outcry from parents because of the horse scene at the swamp of sadness  in the first one and already under fire for not making his previous films more child friendly .. Jim added the soft touch to appease the masses

Lo's seen the never ending story and doesnt care for it...and yes, the 2nd part is boring...I put it on and she didnt last 5 minutes, turned it off.  She understands in the death department, people and animals dont live forever and shes seen some go irl.  What she needs is an afterlife movie or something.



The last mimsy is actually a really good movie.  About these 2 kids that find this stuffed bunny and spinners from the future...really good movie!



With the dark crystal, Lo didnt like the scene where they had in chairs and forced to look into the crystal...really creeped her out.
