When the SWAT team arrived at the front door they were anticipating a possible firefight, something that doesn't exactly happen often in Kansas where there's little to do except run through wheat fields and talk about UFO sightings. Naturally, they were on edge. Little did they know that inside the house a family of four were enjoying a Thursday night like any other.





But when 28 year old Andrew Finch walked to the door after hearing noises outside, one of the SWAT members discharged his weapon through the door, catching Finch several times. He would die from the bullet wounds minutes later once the SWAT team cleared the area and realized that the call-in was phony.





As they would come to find out, the address given to authorities wasn't the actual address of the Call of Duty player who was arguing just an hour before. Instead, it was a nearby address of the completely unrelated Finch family, a group of people who haven't bought Call of Duty since it was actually good.

We've never allowed our children to play violent video games or with toy guns. They have been given opportunities to learn the responsible use of firearms however.



That kind of gaming and policing culture breeds more violence.



Scenarios shown in this thread make me comfortable with our decision.

Los Angeles police have arrested a 25-year-old man on suspicion of making the swatting call that ended with a Wichita man being killed by police.



Tyler Barriss was arrested Friday afternoon, according to KABC.



Booking records for the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office say he was arrested at 3:15 p.m. for a felony.



Barriss is accused of reporting a fake homicide and hostage situation to the Wichita Police Department just after 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

According to the LA Times, Barris was arrested in 2015 for making false bomb threats to ABC7 in Glendale. The calls forced the studio to evacuate.



Barriss allegedly made the threats on Sept. 30 and Oct. 9 that year, and later threatened a relative to prevent her from reporting the incidents, the newspaper reported said.
