I believe that we are all born with a basic concept of right or wrong and our family and community help that along, or  make it worse down the line.

But the idea that we subscribe to ancient fiction, around the fire storytelling and whatnot, eventually solidified into a gospel or societal mandates is daft.

Equally bizarre is how every religion suggests it knows the truth, bar Buddhism to some extent, yet have killed, maimed, robbed, and raped in their histories.

If there is an afterlife, I expect to be judged and also expect to not make the cut. I'm ok with that. I just don't see the point of fixating over the rewards or lack of for the unknown when I'd rather just be the best person I can because when such things happen, they seem naturally right.

Nobody knows what happens when we're ashes or dust. At best, people with near death experiences recall things relevant to their belief systems while alive.

I've heard that, but they were people acting in accordance with societal norms at the time..

Slavery was once legal every where and people(inside and outside the body of Christ) accepted it..

It's OK... the message isn't for you... it's not in your heart to be a sheep... you're a goat. Accept your fate!

I go to a lot of AA meetings... that's a great substitute for church...

Better yet, down lots of barrel wash and then go to church.

I went to church at 4:30 on Sunday (only because I was sick and couldn't go to work) but I didn't down any "barrel wash" first... I'll have to try that sometime...

Barrel wash is Herman's preferred beverage.
