I would think traffic police are rarely in offices.

Nor did I.  Rather than take my chances with the 2-year draft, I elected to enlist for 3 years and served in Army aviation, mostly as a helicopter crew chief.

Indeed, I am a Yank.  The US doesn't have compulsory service now, but it used to.
