Quote from: "Gaon"I was in the IDF for three years. I was an infantryman. I saw combat in the Second Intifada. And I was in the Battle of Jenin. Thankfully I wasn't injured. But, it's something I will never forget.

Has anyone else served in the military. I think Odinson might have. If you have, please tell us about it.

That's amazing Gaon. Were you awarded a medal?

Israel isn't nearly as generous with medals as Canada and the United States. I was told every Canadian soldier who went to Afghanistan, even in a non combat role, was awarded a medal.

They get a medal for participating..

I was told that if Canadian soldiers went to Afghanistan, they received a medal. It didn't matter if it was combat or not.

Someone that works with my husband, has a brother who served in Afghanistan with the Canadian military..

I should get my husband to ask him.

I looked it up and the medal awarded for deployment to Afghanistan is called the General Campaign Star-South West Asia.

A bit excessive.

Typically North Korean. The military is the foundation of their society.

Most if not all of those medals are for being Kim family sycophants.

Don't all traffic police have to go out and cruise around for speeders?

That's an occasional part of their job.

Traffic cops don't sit in offices. The clue is in the name.

All operational police officers carry a firearm when on duty in public areas.

I would think traffic police are rarely in offices.

I didn't have a choice.

Nor did I.  Rather than take my chances with the 2-year draft, I elected to enlist for 3 years and served in Army aviation, mostly as a helicopter crew chief.

They mostly sub contract that here. The lazy buggers only bother if you're really fanging it.
Blahhhhhh...
