The media is calling her a little girl. An innocent little girl.



Naive maybe, young yes, but if she got pregnant, not quite a little innocent girl if it was consensual.

The press acts as an absolute judge and jury in their pursuit for clickbait worthy headlines. There's nothing good or bad about the girl as far as I can see. She is a neutral aspect aside from her age although she is quite young to have attained womanhood when the average is 12.5-13 years old.



The age of marriage in Australia was only changed from 12 (female) 14 (male) in the 1940's and despite varying levels of dissuading and illegality, teens and preteens who've gone through puberty early still sexually engage with their peers, later teens, and sometimes 20+somethings. I think it's bad parenting and sometimes really disturbing but if the families accept it and nothing can be demonstrated, it goes on. Often right in front of the community they're living in. Especially more rural small town areas. Occasionally they marry and start families for life.



News stories like that one don't offer any context and they know they can get away with it because who in their right mind wouldn't be disgusted if their 11-12 year old daughter was impregnated by a much older man. It's echo chamber reporting. Quick piece with a district attorney prosecutor's monster quote.



And the man probably is a predator monster type.



But we don't know if there is more to all this.



The press has the unique power to move people with words. They mismanage it intentionally though and I find that equally disturbing.



So I don't mind saying that the guy and the news media are equally disgusting.

Here is something that just popped up in my news feed which somewhat makes my point about such matters.



It's a media report AFTER a judge renders a verdict.

A 67 year old man approaches 13 and 14 year old girl(s) on facebook. Either they ask for money for their nude shots or he offers money for them, plus unnamed sexual favours.



The Judge, knowing the character of both females from prior encounters, offers a slightly reduced sentence for the 67 year old because they sought out the circumstance, went to his home, and refused to give victim impact statements.



The 67 year old is still a creepy paedophile. However, the judge made allowances in his sentencing for the shifty behaviour of the young women too.



THAT IS HOW media should work.
