Quote from: "Bricktop"Is her electorate predominantly black?
Its about 25% black  25% Hispanic and 50% white but the white part is very progtardy and blacks vote their own race more than other races.

There might be enough whites and Hispanics, to oust her, if they are mad about this.

So much for racial harmony and equality.

That myth is well and truly shattered.

Even progs like  Rahm Emanuel are pissed off about this.

EMANUEL CALLS SMOLLETT CHARGES BEING DROPPED 'A WHITEWASH OF JUSTICE'

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel criticized disgraced "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett during a press conference with Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson Tuesday.

Johnson condemned Smollett, 36, for his role in allegedly orchestrating a fake hate crime despite the fact that charges against the actor were dropped.

" ... Three things I'd like to say," he continued. "One: on financial cost, this $10,000 doesn't even come close to what the city spent in resources to actually look over the camera, gather all the data, gather all the information that actually brought the indictment by the grand jury, on many, many multiple different charges."

He continued:

The ethical costs is: as a person who is in the House of Representatives when we tried to pass the Shepard legislation that dealt with hate crimes putting them on the books, that President Obama then signed them into law, to then use those very laws and the principles and values behind the Matthew Shepard hate crimes legislation to self-promote your career is a cost that comes to all the individuals, gay men and women who will come forward and one day say they were the victim of a hate crime will now be doubted.

He used the laws of the hate crime legislation that all of us, collectively, over years, have put on the books to stand up to be the values that embody what we believe in. This is a whitewash of justice," Emanuel said.

"A grand jury could not have been clearer. To then say not only is the cost of $10,000 doesn't come close financially but all the other repercussions of this decision it made, to me, where is the accountability in the system? You cannot have, because of a person's position, one set of rules apply to them and another set of rules apply to everybody else," he concluded.

Johnson also spoke at the press conference and he stood by the investigation. He also expressed his frustration over the charges getting dropped.

"If you want to say you're innocent of a situation, then you take your day in court. I would never — if someone falsely accused me, I would never hide behind a brokered deal in secrecy, period," Johnson said during the press conference.

Phone records show that Michelle Obama's former chief of staff contacted Knox asking for help in clearing Smollett.

They indicate that she was applying some effort to have the matter transferred to the FBI...a more "sympathetic" organisation.

This is a perversion of justice, a slap in the face for white and fair minded Americans and a serious undermine of the justice system.

Its hard to believe Rahm Emanuel was the adult in the room, but he was.  Kind of reminds me of when AOC killed the Amazon deal in New York and Cuomo was mad at her.  The new progs are so utterly crazy they make the old progs look almost sane by comparison.

That's why the police want her investigated.  She said she recused herself, but she did not truly recuse herself, she only unofficially did it, not in a legal sense.  Also it was her underling who was in charge of the case, not someone independent.

BTW I looked back at an older article and it says she was largely elected because she had the support of black lives matter.

Many Blacks and whites get along on an individual basis but as groups they do not.   Of course the leftards make everything worse when they do stuff like this.   Can you imagine a white guy making up a fake hate crime, blaming it on blacks, getting caught and then not prosecuted? blacks would be furious.

This JS story is bizarre, but I don't believe it to be as isolated as the media would have us believe.

Leftards like Smollett make up fake hate crimes all the time.  And it was obvious from the OJ trial, and Eric Holder with the black panthers, that there some blacks who won't convict their own no matter what.

There is still one avenue of hope that Smollett could get what he deserves, the FBI could charge him with the threatening letter he sent, but they haven't done squat yet.  Increasingly in  America leftards can get away with anything.

I don't know about the letter he sent, but it sounds like a minor charge compared to faking a hate crime.

Actually there is no charge for faking a hate crime. That should be against the law, but unbelievably it is not.  He was charged with lying on a police report.

Sending the letter violates mail fraud laws, and the sentence is up ten years in prison.  But I have not heard of any action on that front.  As another possible punishment--The mayor of Chicago said something about suing Smollett for the costs of the investigation.

That falls under public mischief in Canada.

(c) reporting that an offence has been committed when it has not been committed; or

(d) reporting or in any other way making it known or causing it to be made known that he or some other person has died when he or that other person has not died.

Marginal note:Punishment

(2) Every one who commits public mischief

That ls certainly better than what we have which is nothing.  All those laws they write and somehow making a fake hate crime accusation, or even false criminal related accusation is not prohibited by federal law.

Here's a golden opportunity for republicans to propose legislation.  They won;t thpough.  They are like pet rocks.  They don't do anything.
