Quote from: "Wazzzup"Actually there is no charge for faking a hate crime. That should be against the law, but unbelievably it is not.  He was charged with lying on a police report.

That falls under public mischief in Canada.

Public mischief

140 (1) Every one commits public mischief who, with intent to mislead, causes a peace officer to enter on or continue an investigation by

(a) making a false statement that accuses some other person of having committed an offence;

(b) doing anything intended to cause some other person to be suspected of having committed an offence that the other person has not committed, or to divert suspicion from himself;

(c) reporting that an offence has been committed when it has not been committed; or

(d) reporting or in any other way making it known or causing it to be made known that he or some other person has died when he or that other person has not died.

Marginal note:Punishment

(2) Every one who commits public mischief

(a) is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding five years; or

(b) is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.
That ls certainly better than what we have which is nothing.  All those laws they write and somehow making a fake hate crime accusation, or even false criminal related accusation is not prohibited by federal law.

Here's a golden opportunity for republicans to propose legislation.  They won;t thpough.  They are like pet rocks.  They don't do anything.

I think justice would have been served in Canada if JS tried a stunt like that here.

Kim Foxx the POS that let Smollett go is now looking for similar deals made before in her depratnent to cover her ridiculous deal with smollett.  Foxx's office claims the treatment of Smollett was not unusual, but then struggles to find similar treatment of anyone.

the National District Attorneys Association, which reportedly represents roughly 2,700 prosecutors' offices around the country stated four reasons why this was improper

Quote"First, when a chief prosecutor recuses him or herself, the recusal must apply to the entire office, not just the elected or appointed prosecutor. This is consistent with best practices for prosecutors' offices around the country," the association said in a statement to Fox.

"Second, prosecutors should not take advice from politically connected friends of the accused. Each case should be approached with the goal of justice for victims while protecting the rights of the defendant."

"Third, when a prosecutor seeks to resolve a case through diversion or some other alternative to prosecution, it should be done so with an acknowledgment of culpability on the part of the defendant. A case with the consequential effects of Mr. Smollett's should not be resolved without a finding of guilt or innocence."

"Fourth, expunging Mr. Smollett's record at this immediate stage is counter to transparency. Law enforcement will now not be able to acknowledge that Mr. Smollett was indicted and charged with these horrible crimes and the full record of what occurred will be forever hidden from public view. Finally, we believe strongly that hate crimes should be prosecuted vigorously but the burden of proof should not be artificially increased due to the misguided decisions of others."

Don't know what they can do about it, but The FBI and DOJ are looking into how the case was handled.

It was corrupt abuse of power...nothing less.

She should be arrested and charged with obstruction of justice.

Political corruption, like gun control, is beyond the reach of the current American political process.

An armed populace is the final counter to extreme political corruption. It's in their Founding literature.
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

Well, I'm surprised.

You've clearly been brainwashed.

And here's me thinking you didn't have a brain.

Frood

Perhaps you should actually read the US Constitution and Bill of Rights instead of spouting off garbage.
Blahhhhhh...

Bricktop

You know Aaron, that's not a bad idea.

Except, unlike you, I am NOT American, and couldn't care less about their antiquated shibboleths, let alone their appetite for self destruction.

My only concern with America is that it confines its madness and mayhem within its own borders which it has historically and consistently failed to do.

If you're so enamoured with your homeland's appetite for destruction, why don't you return and do BOTH countries a favour. After all, they will let you have a gun there...you'd be soooo happy with a .38 in your belt. Make you feel 10 feet tall...which in your case is an improvement of about 9 feet.

Blahhhhhh...

I know removing that nut won't change the world. But, it's a start.
